A superb telephoto zoom lens that¿s easy to carry. The Sony G-Series 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 Telephoto Zoom Lens is a brilliant performer for a wide range of medium-distance and long shots, with SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) design for fast, silent auto-focus, ED glass to virtually eliminate chromatic aberration, focus hold button and more. Minimum focusing distance of about 4 feet (1.2m) lets you move in close to your subject — and even at full zoom extension it captures sharp, clear images thanks to the benefit of Super SteadyShot image stabilization built into every Sony ¿ system DSLR. (35mm equivalent: 105-450mm).

Sony has a home, with this first goal G Run Hit imported Minolta pulled out of the market the camera. The objective is quite clear that it is easy to carry – and much lighter and more compact than the Sony 70-200 f2.8. Even more useful than the 70-300 the 70-200, if a greater focal length is required. But the 70-200 is useful in low light, where the aperture F4.5 to F5.6 of the 70-300 is too small.
Although the 70-300 is larger and heavier than the Minolta 100-300F4.5-5.6 APO, which are extra dimensions and weight, justified by the sharpness and superior build quality, from a lens G. I have the sharpness of the two measured the 70-300 and 100-300 with the software test lens Imate. The 70-300 is sharper than the 100-300, in particular at f4.5 and f5.6. But have the 70-300 for a small amount of chromatic aberration, while the 100-300 is not.
The 70-300 is a great traveling companion for the 24-70 f2.8 Zeiss. TheSSM focus motor is fast and silent. My only small complaint about this lens is that I'd rather see all the structures in metal rather than plastic, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5
Best 70-300 zoom yet – Swervn – Colorado
A much better quality of pictures of child 70-300 and 100-300. Best of Minolta 70-210 f4 Step. Expensive but worth it.
got stuck in the camera body! – BulletProof96 – NY
This rather sums up what I'm on this goal.
CONS:
– The love for the hood, but sometimes the way to big to carry.
– Very Small Aperture (wish it was 4)
– Built-in is a bit 'plastiky (guess thats needed for weight loss)
– Hunting in low light
– Dust-focus and zoom love rubber grip
Pro
– Color of the resulting images are excellent
– Sharp and good contrast 70-300
– Very quiet
– Love, as you can in AFwith the manual focus ring.
– N. PF also visible at 100% open
– Practically free of CA —
– Focus Limiter very practical
– The weight is small enough
– Balances very well with the A700
– Perfect for the A900 program
For some reason I can not take the camera is turned off, D
