This is a high-performance super-telescopic zoom lens that features, for the first time, the Supersonic Wave Drive (SWD) autofocus system which enables the lens to achieve an AF speed about two times faster than the previous ED 50-200mm f2.8-3.5 model. ED lens elements are used extensively to correct the color blurring that can occur when telescopic lenses are extended to their maximum focal length, while the digital-dedicated design ensures high-quality performance with clear, crisp images from edge to edge. Close-up shooting capability is also superb, with a minimum shooting distance of just 1.2 meters throughout the zoom range.
Main Features
I wanted this lens when I did my research to buy a DSLR. After I bought my Olympus E-620, this is my second line was in my goal-to-buy list (14-54mm II is the first, because I need a zoom for all uses). I bought this lens when it was something, but was placed directly under the order, a foul feeling overwhelmed me. I can not afford this lens! I bought 14-54mm II, instead of 12-60mm, because the budget. I also bought a 50mm macro, so I was at the Super TightBudget. I was given this back and get the telephoto lens 70-300mm instead of filling the need, but the quality of this lens made me change my mind. So I sold to fund this 50mm macro lens.
Here is attractive because the reason that made me forget to budget … (And they are usually financially prudent).
Before Very sharp. During his time with F2, 50mm macro is much brighter and as one of the sharpest lens around (all brands), this lens is known, I suspect is strongerthan 50mm focal length. Looking at the MTF chart, 50mm surely win, but in the real world, you look really hard.
According Very fast. SWD is quiet and fast. I do not believe to be an action shooter (usually shoot landscapes), but I could take pictures of him with many birds with excellent precision. I mean, were flying in the sky, and I still have.
Third bright enough. Normally, a telephoto lens in this price range can be found fromwith F4, not F2.8. F2.8 membrane is very flexible to do the photo shoots many hands without using a tripod can be considered cumbersome.
Fourth Beautiful colors. While doing my 14-54mm II may also 50mm, for some reason, this lens is better. The color tends to be a bit 'richer. Perhaps it is the hood over changing the lighting, I do not know the real reason, but the difference is obvious. 14-54mm and 50mm II tend to see the photo shoot"Digital". On the other hand, tends to 50-200mm, for images that are more cinema …. Just take pictures of people (by others) are happy, and that is quite similar to what I received from him, too. It 'looks like a movie so that you do, but not grainy!
Things should be aware of:
And before 'hard. Keep the lens in place of the camera body when wearing it. Coupling becomes smaller camera body, such as e-620 aa front heavy anyway. I assume the tripod has some difficultas the E-620 body only. You can if you do not need. You can get a lot of movement around the achievement of that goal. But he feels secure in your hand.
According to E 'enormous. And 'one of the smaller class of lenses, but it's still really girthy. If the system completely shrink, it is good … and rather long. The hood is huge. The lens is all well proportioned, but you're definitely going to get too much attention to him.
Third Touch. SWD lenses are mechanicallymanual focus. I mean, it's harder to turn. Personally I feel that it is very different, but it is clear. At both ends of the focal length, it is harder to spin, even if it stops. Zoom ring is, however, very difficult to get to the end of the shift of 200mm. MF Mechanics has the advantage of turning every time you want, even if you're in AF mode. Very convenient if you're the kind of guy MF / gal is.
Bad weather and fourth-meter focal length. Yes, like all Pro LineLenses made by Olympus (except 70-300mm), this is critical functions.
Other fifth. Hood has a window so you can turn your polarizing filter (67mm). There is no limitation of autofocus, but I think it is a big problem, since most of the time focused only AF in good light conditions. The lens is a semi-rigid, padded case (with strap), but the standard edition, softcover (more).
Conclusion: If you can afford,In any case, this objective is. Many people who call him their favorite target (though I also wanted this lens is bad, but I thought they were on a free-for-all hyperbole and back). With a range of 35mm equivalent focal length of 100-400mm, it is good for portraits (to 100mm) and shots of wildlife (AF, because faster!). Although I think the minimum focusing distance of 1.2 m ~ is a bit 'away for portraiture in general. If you are not this large focal range (100-400mm 35mm equivalent), 70-300mm seemspurchase a good with a much lower price.

The perfect moment doesn’t wait. That’s why serious photographers need serious equipment so that they are ready for whatever comes. With its pro features and top image quality, the Olympus E-520 D-SLR fits the bill perfectly. The next evolution to the EISA award-winning E-500 series incorporates a built-in image stabilizer to ensure blur-free shots irrespective of the lens attached – no matter if wide-angle or ultra-tele and without the need for a tripod. Matched with the Supersonic Wave Filter dust protection system and improved Live View capabilities, the freedom to frame and take great, crystal-clear photos is virtually limitless. Based upon the forward-looking “designed for digital” four thirds standard, the 10.0 megapixel E-520 with Live View ensures uncompromising D-SLR quality.
I bought the Olympus E-520 over 6 months looking cameras for about 3 months. I looked at the Pentax K200D, Canon XSI, Nikon D40, Nikon D40x, Nikon D60, Sony Alpha 300 and Olympus E-420 and the Olympus E-510
([...] I read a series of thorough assessments has some of the best), watching videos and watch product demonstrations on YouTube, talking to friends and family that some of the above cameras, and most importanty possession, are went to cameraShops and actually found (and worked with) the camera in my hands.
This is my first DSLR camera and the competition, I am very happy with my choice. I went to buy a camera with 2 lens kit. Initially I thought only the body and then both the 14-54mm or more end Olympus 12-60mm lens, but I decided to buy two (lower quality) would have a better selection of lenses to work with, as I learned different techniques. I like to photographoutdoors and am very happy with the pictures I took. It does not mean that I have taken photos at night or in the big room, I have and I will say that, but you learn how to use the camera. I took lots of pictures terrible at first, lucky for me, helped my father (the Sony Alpha 300 and was in good pictures with SLR cameras for years) has to understand me, that most of my pictures ill my fault and not the camera was.
I would also like toRecommend wrote a book or book series, "The Digital Photography Book" by Scott Kelby. In this series, Scott will tell you exactly how to make different effects to explain without actually reaching the theory behind it. Say something like, if you want to get silky effect warerfall or a stream, that is, do you Have to: Turn the camera time code, one Set the shutter speed to 1 or 2 seconds. To avoid having a framework that is (because the light is blown all your slowShutter is rented), it is better to fire before or after sunset. The shutter speed is 1 or 2 seconds with a stand open. As the water moves, it becomes confused and the surrounding area will be sharp.
Books above will help to realize that much can be done with your camera when you come to mention just the time.
I read all the Amazon reviews and months as people comment on how a personand write, I suggest you check out the comments appear on 1 and 2 star reviews, sometimes the observations show that the user erroneously a product to be reviewed and that it helps to know!
All the above cameras take good pictures. It 'important to feel comfortable navigating the menus, camera, you should feel comfortable holding and shooting with the camera, and you should be on what you're thinking with the camera.
I actually just boughtOlympus MF-1 OM lens adapter ($ 82 at Amazon), which allowed me to buy an old Olympus OM 50 mm F1.8 fixed focal length. Good glass will help me better pictures, and this adapter has helped me a good goal for a ridiculous price (I have the 50 mm 1.8 F OM arrive first on eBay for $ 20).
The more I think E-520, the more I love it. I'm learning a lot and appreciate all packed into this camera Olympus beautiful. You can check to make pictures that I put onlinePhoto competitions, click on the link below ([...]):

Good luck in your search!

A new era of digital imaging begins with the Olympus E-P1. The worlds smallest 12.3-megapixel interchangeable lens system camera blends the high-quality still images of a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) with High Definition (HD) video, stereo Linear PCM audio recording and In-Camera Creativity within an ultra-portable body. The easy-to-use E-P1 expands your creative horizons and its diverse multimedia features offer something for everyone. Built for todays visual generation who lead active lives online and offline, the E-P1 will make you rethink what you can do with a camera.

1. For the sake of comparison, I have seen from many cameras (film and digital) and then there is no "perfect" camera. For most of the photographers who are "into" photography, I agree with my assertion that you need at least two cameras, one for heavy work (ie, typically a DSLR, but not (always) and a compact camera for snapshots an important part of any photography staff).
2. With the above said, I have a DSLR (currently E-620), I have enoughCompact cameras (Ricoh GX200), but for various reasons, I wanted a smaller camera with HD video (there are quite a few ', most of which are much more compact than the EP-1), (which also offers good picture quality, which for me the ability to RAW) -> actually reduced the scope for the EP-1 and the Panasonic G1. I conclude this extended note which is important for people to recognize that the EP-1 is a niche camera, that is, it's nice to produce high quality images, hasMany (not all) of similar characteristics, such as compact DSLR cameras, but is not a compact camera … nor is it as big as a DSLR, even the smallest DSLR. I wanted to make just this point, because although it is smaller than any DSLR, no matter what they say most people, unless you are using only the objective pancakes, the implementation should not be in the bag. Even if you are using is not only the goal pancakes, the entire unit relatively strong (which is a testimonyConstruction), and so many people do not feel comfortable walking around with this thing in my pocket. For example, a personal side, I have concluded that I must use / got a DSLR for my "serious" work, the EP-1 for most shots in the family, family vacations (eg, good value Image of my E620, but without the majority of HD video, etc. ..) is a compact real situations where I really need to get something in exchange (for example, the birthday dinner bear, etc.. ..)
a. Build: Very solid. As stated on other types of relatively heavy, but for me it's a good thing.
b. Image quality: RAW, I shoot all the time, the image quality very good.
c. HD Video: I'm not an expert on video, but it is obviously better than my normal resolution of my video on other cameras. Via Padre Pio priority mode, you can set the Padre Pio, then aYou can also use the exposure via exposure compensation. It would be nice if it were to support a manual focus, such as when shooting photos (IE) with a magnified image. Continuous mode focus is lame, and so you have to focus manually, or individual focus lock (which is manual) primarily as shooting. Presumably, the DP-2 will be able to track issues better in video mode. If you do not shoot subjects that too / her video and shoots are long segments, the above problemsnot so much of a problem.
d. Focus: … not bad. Not great, but I was not expecting anything great super first. When you use the zoom lens kit, it is certainly fast enough for 90% of cases. I agree with many that it's annoying that the camera is to focus on each keystroke, but ultimately it is a minor annoyance. I have no experience with the lens omelette with EP-1 yet, I'll get soon. Another very important point in relation toAttention is, the DP-1 in this very cool, if one (or SM-mode manual focus, I think that is what is called) as soon as you touch the focus ring, you get a 7x watch the LCD or 10x -> Translation, this is the fastest manual focusing on LCD I've met so far. It's so quick and precise (as is being done in the center) when I think about 4 / 3 Olympus lenses for use on the EP-1 (ex: 12-60mm or 9-18mm) I always use the method of focus manual and it works pretty well.
F. is: I suppose that works. It works in my E-620 and that was one of the reasons why I stayed withline of Olympus, that is, the G1 has no body. For me, this feature is more important than with a flash on board that could use 1% of the time. I use it a lot.
g. LCD: I have the machine will be used in various conditions, including the worst shooting LCD, sunny days on the beach. Yes, it can be a challenge in these situations, but again only under certain conditions: The attempt to focus manually, the Tele. For most shooting situations, while at the beach, ona sunny day, with auto focus -> no problem. I turn the brightness of the LCD.
h. Others: Frame rate is decent, on / off time is ok, the writing, the card seems ok – so> none of these issues have been received, or an annoying problem for me.
4. In summary, this is not a Brainiest this camera is more than capable of good pictures and has the flexibility of all serious photographers. I would say the main problem wasclearly identify, is a spirit, the purpose for which it provides with this camera. Not a DSLR replacement, but in many cases, similar images could (at least, do not provide full-frame DSLR), and there is no substitute for a real compact camera. This is a niche camera, some images the situation very well.

High quality metal lens mount allows Olympus OM lenses to be used on micro 4/3 camera body. The adapter has no electrical connection and diaphragm & focusing are required to be set by manual.Compatible to:Panasonic: G1, GH1, E-P1Olympus: E-P1Material:Made of Copper & Aluminum

I use this adapter to mount a 50 millimeters Zuiko OM mount lenses on a GF1 Panasonic. The adapter allows you to manually set the aperture and the camera will adjust the exposure when shooting in aperture priority mode. Lens must be manually focused, of course.

The ZUIKO DIGITAL 40-150mm (35mm equivalent focal length: 80-300mm) is a compact, lightweight and reasonably priced telephoto lens. Its powerful 3.8 zoom makes it the ideal supplement to the 14-45mm lens.

Well, it's my time to say how good or bad. Now give autofocus is fast, it's fairly light, 3.5, 4.5 is faster than the kit lens. The picture quality is very particular, the focal length, razor-sharp at 60 to 90 mm with tripod. I am my E510 at Cameta Camera for only $ 129.
I was worried about this camera Cameta because of the price, but after a couple of weeks ago I asked them, they get bought. He came well packed with front and rear caps + hood in bubble wrap well, thanksCameta Camera once again I buy from you. Soon I will get the 70-300 mm a.
Factory Demo EXCELLENT CONDITION. I run like new photos to prove it.
PROS
Fast autofocus
Very sharp images
Great hood block too much light
Adequate weight
(Metal mount) better than hard plastic
To increase Smooth & Company.
CONS
Not so good in low light and night
FrontBarrel turns to fire, not good for the circularly polarized
Minimum Focus Distance 1.5 meters in length.
Over all a good choice and should have lenses, the camera is the Olympus system, I would not worry too much about a tripod for the day of use.

LH-43B Lens Hood for the Ultra-Compact Zuiko f/2.8 25mm Lens
If you are on Olympus Zuiko 25 millimeters f / 2.8 objective is an indispensable accessory. Offers good sun protection and the lens cap through a reverse cone style, not a negative impact on the overall size of the lens Sumper thin with a marvelous view.
Is being said. This coverage may be simply too expensive (Olympus you hear me?). The hood is essentialy a step down ring (43mm – 34mm). Had included with the lens to a minimum. My Nikon and Sigma lenses alllens hoods included free (with the exception of the 18 low-55mm lens kit).
My complaint is simply that the hood does not include a lens cap. The Zuiko lens is 25 millimeters a beautiful aluminum screw-on lens cover as the CAP will not work with the installed hood. $ 39.00 for Olympus could take a $ 2 cap, at least throw …..
